Trusts

Trusts are good methods of managing one’s estate during life and compared to wills, they offer greater control, efficiency, and privacy.

The most commonly used trust for estate planning is the revocable living trust. This trust allows a person or a married couple to place their assets in a trust to be managed by their chosen trustees, which are often initially themselves. The trustees then manage the assets according to the terms and conditions of the trust for the benefit of the chosen beneficiaries. These trusts can be changed during the trust creator’s lifetime, but they become set in stone upon the death of the creator. These trusts, if properly managed, can avoid probate.
